The Citizenship Tour first launched in 2014 as a way to empower students from SEA’s national network to become civically active in their communities. On the past six tours, SEA students have met with Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, New York Times Columnist David Brooks, Senator Cory Booker, and more.
On the 2020 Tour, students will speak with notable public figures, such as Former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, Admiral James Stavridis, Former Deputy Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, Kathleen Kingsbury and Brent Staples of The New York Times, and Robin Hood CEO Wes Moore. The group will also meet virtually with NBC News Senior Director Brett Holey, National Editor of The Atlantic Scott Stossel, Co-Founder and COO of BallotReady Aviva Rosman, Founder of The Black List Franklin Leonard, Deputy Executive Director at the International Refugee Assistance Project Nisha Agarwal, and Obama Foundation Director of Education Jennifer Wynn.
